Article type: Press ReleasesTop Chef Receives Sabbatical to Join New Hotel Venture
Steve Thorpe, of the Masterchefs of Great Britain and Programme Manager for food and beverage at City College Norwich has been given a year's sabbatical to join Broad House Hotel, opening in Wroxham, Norfolk, on September 1st 2007.
Steve joins owners Philip Search and Caroline Search at Broad House after spending 19 chef years in the Army and 14 years at City College Norwich's Hotel School department.
Commenting on his new private sector role as head chef Steve says: "This is a golden and life changing opportunity for me to work in this profession and help set up Broad House Hotel to be the first choice destination in Norfolk for all visitors who want excellent service, accommodation and fine dining."
Owner Philip Search says: "Currently Norfolk doesn't have a single five star hotel and we aim to work towards making this happen through our dining and accommodation. Steve's input and experience which he can bring to Broad House will be invaluable."
Steve says: "We are developing a fine dining menu linked with a unique experience and ambience set in this country estate manor house. There will be a five course menu which will change daily. Food supplies will be Norfolk produce where possible and much of the vegetable, salads and herbs will be hand picked from our own garden."
Mick Cooper, Head of the Hotel School says: "City College Norwich fully supports members of staff participating in secondments into industry to develop and relate industry knowledge to the learning experience of our students. Meanwhile we look forward to work closely with Broad House to support Steve in his new role and for him to develop his skills and knowledge during this year. Equally City College Norwich students will benefit from this wonderful opportunity to join this new establishment and strong links will develop."
Broad House Hotel is set to become Norfolk's top place to stay and with masterchef Steve Thorpe onboard as Head Chef , it's a great place to dine.
It is a luxurious hotel with all the rings of tradition with a dash of contemporary spice. The hotel is a work of art in itself, with the best in decoration, linen and unusual objects d'art.
Broad House has nine huge en suite bedrooms, two of which are with four poster beds, with pain staking attention to detail taken in every area. Every room has its own identity, designed to complement each of the individual views available from the different areas of the house. Two of the bedrooms in Broad House have been created in the attic, and reflect a more quirky approach than the others, which keep close to its heritage with a traditional design.
Room prices will start from £130 per night, including breakfast.
